Everyone parent goes through their first act of parenthood that will last with them for the rest of their lives... naming their child. For some this is a grueling experience resulting in several tense discussions, uncomfortable situations and potential for domestic discord. Fortunately it wasn't too hard for us. Our formula was pretty simple. We didn't know if we were going to have a son or daughter so we needed to keep a few names handy for each. We picked a front runner for each sex and when the big event occurred we would give it one final confirmation and never look back. The one rule we had was to tell absolutely
nobody the names of our
front runners. We figured it is a lot more difficult to judge a name when it is attached to such a beautiful little person.

So why am I rambling on about baby names and who on earth is this Claire mentioned in the title of this post?
Babycenter.com released the baby top names of 2007 and much to our
surprise Aubrey is cited as one of the fastest growing names of the year jumping up to #50. Maybe we are trendsetters (what we would like to think) or maybe it is just circumstance but Aubrey leapfrogged several traditional favorites this year (no offense to anyone named Claire). We are often asked about the name. Was it a family name? Did we have any special story about it? The answer, although boring, is no. We just like the name and looking back on it now I think it fits our daughter perfectly. So feel free to give a look at the most popular names to see how yours is doing -
