January: Mommy and Daddy started to share the news on the arrival of their first child. They found out in late December the evening prior to departing to New York for Chris
tmas. Needless to say everyone was quite excited. Our eight week doctor's appointment made everything seem quite real.February: What a better way for the parents-to-be to spend Valentine's Day than hearing their child's heartbeat for the first time. Daddy had a pretty good track record of making all the doctor's appointments during Mommy's pregnancy. There is some debate over the details but Mommy insists he missed one of them. Just can't recall which one.
March: Time for the parents to get some travel in before the arrival of their little bundle of joy. In March we visited soon-to-be Aunt Mary, Uncle Jud , Uncle Rafael and Grandmommy and Granddad in Folly Beach, SC. We also had a chance to visit Brian's Aunt Margie and Uncle Rennie in Jacksonville, FL. Lots of excitement on the arrival of the baby but still some time away.
April: April gave us the opportunity to take another peek inside the womb and find out the sex of the baby if we were interested. Although Daddy would have been fine with knowing that simply wasn't an option according to Mommy. He was smart enough to know that this wasn't a battle worth fighting. The funny thing is when we see this picture we actual do think it looks like Aubrey.May: In the month of May we went on our "Babymoon" to Myrtle Beach, SC. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the concept, this is a final vacation with only the two of us be
fore our family grows. We had a very nice and relaxing time highlighted by many meals out, time on the beach (Rosa wasn't concerned showing off the pregnancy) and massages. All in all it was a great time to get away from everything and enjoy ourselves.June: In June it was right back into baby stuff with two of Rosa's baby showers taking place during the month. One in New York and the other here in Richmond. Both were extremely fun and everyone was very generous supplying us with the essentials to caring for an infant.
July: With the pregnancy entering its final chapters we spent this month on several of the essentials such as preparing the nursery and parenting classes. Funny thing on those classes. We spent so much time working on the breathing methods, comfort measures during labor, ways that we would pass the time, etc. As it turns out it was the fastest couple of hours of our lives.
August: No surprise what was the big event of August this year. The only surprise was that it came a few weeks sooner than expected. Hello Aubrey!!! And so the arrival of many visitors begins.September: Last night we discussed the fact that nothing can prepare you for those first eight weeks. Sleep was at a premium but well worth it. During the month we went on our first road trip, enjoyed our first of many Hokie football games and saw Aubrey roll over.
October: Aubrey was lots of fun during this month as smiling and cooing becoming part of her regular routine. She also started daycare which was certainly a big step for her parents. Halloween was a blast with our little monkey.
November: An action packed month for sure (what month isn't as parents of an infant?) with key milestones such as giggling underway. Thanksgiving was hosted at our place with both sets of Grandparents arriving for the fun.
December: How quickly the year has gone. December provided Mommy
with a big test with Daddy being out of the country for two weeks. She passed with flying colors. Aubrey graduated to her "big girl" crib during the month and seems to enjoy it a great deal. Of course, Christmas topped off the month with a wonderful holiday season. As you can see 2007 was quite an unforgettable year. Tonight we'll celebrate the arrival of 2008 looking forward to more great times and memories to come. Have a Happy New Years!
